72 Hour Kit Supplies for  December


  1. Matches in a waterproof container
  2. Special needs (for baby, extra glasses, medications): If you use disposable diapers, consider adding cloth diapers just in case.  See link below for suggested baby items.
  3. Rain poncho – 1 per person
  4. Hand warmer packs  - at least 1 per person
  5. Emergency blankets – 1 per person
  6. Clothing – Each person will need to rotate clothing for warm and cold:  several pairs of socks and undergarments; long sleeve or short sleeve shirt; snow or sun hat; gloves; long pants. Keep a pair of sturdy shoes and a coat or jacket near your 72 hour kit if these are items you regularly use.

- Money: Save $2 per person. Keep money in small bills.

- Water: Store 1 gallon or more of water per person. Reuse clean juice/soda containers or purchase bottled water.

- Non-perishable/ no cook food:  Purchase 2 items per person per week.





72 Hour Kit Supplies for November

  1. Flashlight / extra batteries
  2. Map of Columbus
  3. Radio/NOAA or weather radio * (extra batteries if needed)
  4. Charger for phone powered by crank or solar power *  or car charger
  5. Pocket knife
  6. Bag to store items
  7. Ongoing supplies (see below)

*A NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ) radio broadcasts continuous weather information. Some are sold with phone chargers and flashlights powered by solar energy and hand cranks.

This is the NOAA radio I own Ambient Weather WR-111A. Cheaper models are available.

Due to Hurricane Sandy, most weather radios are out of stock on most major online retailers. You may need to wait until next month to purchase this. I think this shows the importance and value of these radios
